About the West Des Moines Valley Tigers Lacrosse Team
Welcome to the home for the Valley High School Lacrosse Club.  We are located in West Des Moines, Iowa.  This is our first year of participation in the Nebraska High School Lacrosse League which required us to compete as a junior varsity team for 2009.  We are the first high school lacrosse club in Central Iowa and feature many players new to the game of lacrosse.
After some decent results in a fall ball tournament in Lincoln, NE in October 2008, the team and coaching staff are dedicated to building upon that success.  We hope to inspire the creation of more lacrosse programs in the state of Iowa. 
We are excited for the upcoming season; we will be competing as a Varsity squad for the first time in 2010.  We look forward to being the game's ambassadors to high school students around the state.  We promise to play our hearts out and put forth the strongest season possible.  We will play with pride because we represent one of the most storied schools in Iowa.  We are Valley.  Go Tigers.

Game & Pracice Field Locations

Player Eligibility

  1. Must be a student at Valley High School, Valley Southwoods, or Waukee High School.  Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis and with the approval of the General Manager and Head Coach.  Players with previous lacrosse experience will always be considered even if they are in another part of the Des Moines metro.  Contact us with questions.  Interested players click here.
  2. Must provide own equipment.
  3. Must complete all required paperwork and pay all required fees.
  4. Must be able to attend practice a minimum of two days per week consistently.  Outdoor practices are four days a week but we understand that work and school obligations may prevent players from missing the occasional practice.  This includes transportation to and from practice.
  5. Must be able to travel to Omaha and/or Lincoln, NE every Saturday for games.
  6. Must be willing to commit to the team regardless of high school.  Lacrosse is built upon a foundation of unity and sportsmanship.  The Valley Tiger Lacrosse Team honors those principals.

Coaching Staff

  • Head Coach Zach Zielonko played college lacrosse at Kansas State University. 
  • Assistant Coach Tyler Nielsen played college lacrosse at Augustana in Moline, IL. 
  • Assistant Coach Adam Edgington has never played college lacrosse, but is passionate about the game and organized the Central Iowa Lacrosse Association in an effort bring the game to the Des Moines metro.
